WE ALL sit on the same couch
“I have chronic asthma. I’ll never grow out of it and I will always have flare ups, but there are steps I can take to lessen the frequency and severity. Trauma works the same way.”
It’s time to remove the stigma of trauma and therapy and be as open about it as we are about having a cold or a chronic illness. And whether you’ve experienced trauma yourself or are working to help others heal theirs, Melissa is willing to say the hard, awkward, uncomfortable things to support your journey.
Melissa’s approach is compassionate and direct. She creates a relationship with her clients—and students—that feels safe enough for her to be upfront and honest about what she’s seeing.
Learn to cut through the bullsh!t and get comfortable in the uncomfortable so you can help your clients heal.
EMDR
Constantly curious about new ways to help patients, Melissa discovered the world of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in 2017. This revolutionary technique focuses on brain and body connection, and allows the patient to re-process and heal itself in much quicker time than traditional therapy. Especially as it relates to trauma.
And if you haven’t gotten the hint by now, Melissa’s passion is trauma. So you can imagine how excited she gets about the transformative power of EMDR. For therapists already trained in EMDR, Melissa can help you become more comfortable using it.
